Vocational Training and Job Placement Assistance Programs

These programs help adults enter the workforce and advance in their current jobs. In many cases, you can participate even if you are already working.

Adult Vocational Training (AVT)

This program provides funding for institutional training in any recognized vocational or trade school. AVT funds are usually not provided to individuals already possessing employable skills. Currently, AVT funds several students to attend college classes and technical workshops.

Adult Vocational Training Application

With this program, tribal members can obtain funding to make it financially possible to accept a verifiable offer for full-time, permanent employment. Funds may cover such initial expenses as clothing, tools, or travel.

Job Placement & Training

This internship program is offered to Natives to help them return to work or enter a new field. Participants receive skills training to help them obtain secure jobs. Sometimes this means traveling off-island. Occasionally, the tribe has opportunities for on-the-job training in positions located at the Sun’aq t ribal building or with employers in the community.
