Johnson O’Malley Cultural and Educational Program (JOM)

Alaska Native youths and community members living in the Kodiak area can take part in workshops, classes, and summer outdoor camps on Kodiak Island and nearby islands during which they learn about Alutiiq’ history, technologies, and arts. Local Native artisans instruct children how to fish, skin seals, bead, weave baskets, sew skins, make and play drums, perform traditional dances, tell stories, and carry out many other traditional cultural activities.
